Two founding markets, and the corridor between them.

We work in Nigeria and Malaysia today, from offices in Lagos and Kuala Lumpur. One is our way into Africa, the other into ASEAN. Five more regions follow. We will open them one at a time, in a fixed order.

The line joins our two offices, Lagos and Kuala Lumpur. Each numbered ring is a region we plan to enter, in that order.

  1. UAE and the Middle East
  2. Wider Africa
  3. Wider ASEAN
  4. Europe
  5. The Americas

Where we operate today.

We have an office and a team in each country, and each has its own page. Start with the one you want to enter, or the one you are based in.

Nigeria

The gateway to Africa. Nigeria is Africa's most populous country and one of its largest economies.

Lagos, where we have our office, is its commercial centre and a major West African port city. Nigeria belongs to ECOWAS and to the African Continental Free Trade Area. It is also a hard country to enter alone. Our work for incoming companies starts from that.

What we do there today

  • Market entry and local representation for companies coming in
  • Vetted distributors and joint-venture partners
  • Sourcing and trade, run from Lagos
  • Foreign partners and buyers for Nigerian companies

Malaysia

The gateway to ASEAN. Malaysia is a founding member of ASEAN. It has an established manufacturing base and major container ports on the Strait of Malacca.

Malaysia is a party to the RCEP and CPTPP trade agreements and a centre for halal certification and Islamic finance. English is widely used in business.

What we do there today

  • Supplier and partner sourcing among Malaysian manufacturers
  • Market entry and local representation, run from Kuala Lumpur
  • A route into Nigeria for Malaysian companies

Malaysia in detail

Why a corridor.

A manufacturer in Malaysia and a distributor in Nigeria can need each other and never meet. We have an office at each end, so one team can vet both sides and stay with the deal.

These are the kinds of trade and partnership we work on in each direction. HENOVERA is new. The lists describe what we are set up to do, not deals already completed.

From Malaysia into Nigeria

  • Manufactured goodsElectrical and electronic products from Malaysian manufacturers, placed with Nigerian distributors.
  • Halal-certified productsFood and consumer goods certified halal in Malaysia.
  • Digital platformsMalaysian software and digital services, licensed to Nigerian operators or run for them as a managed service.
  • Manufacturing know-howProduction processes and technical expertise, licensed to a Nigerian company or put into a joint venture with one.

From Nigeria into Malaysia

  • Agricultural and processed goodsNigerian producers supplying Malaysian buyers and processors.
  • Sourcing mandatesNigerian companies buying equipment and components direct from the manufacturer, with our Kuala Lumpur team at the factory end.
  • Companies expandingNigerian businesses opening in Kuala Lumpur, with Malaysia as their first ASEAN country.

In both directions

Joint ventures, licences and distribution agreements. One team structures them, with people at each end, and the people who make the introduction stay on to manage what comes of it.

What comes next, in order.

We enter one region at a time. The next opens only when the one before it is established.

Established means a local team in place and client work under way. Until a region passes that test, the next one waits.

We do not publish dates for any of this. A region opens when the one before it is ready, and if that takes longer than we would like, it takes longer.

Nigeria and Malaysia

Founding markets, operating today
  1. UAE and the Middle East

    Planned, first

It lies between our two founding markets. An office there can serve clients at both ends of the corridor.

  2. Wider Africa

    Planned, second

Other African countries beyond Nigeria, for clients who have entered one and want the next.

  3. Wider ASEAN

    Planned, third

The same step from Malaysia into its ASEAN neighbours, for clients who need more than one country there.

  4. Europe

    Planned, fourth

European buyers and investors, for the companies and partnerships built in the regions before it.

  5. The Americas

    Planned, fifth

The furthest from Lagos and Kuala Lumpur, and the last. It opens when the four regions before it are established.

Based somewhere else?

You do not need to be in Nigeria or Malaysia to work with us. If you want to enter either country we can start now, wherever your company is based. A region further down the list? We will tell you we are not there yet.
